Affordable, central, outdoorsy

Your housing dollar stretches further here, so a home with a yard and room to save is realistic. Williamsburg, Yorktown, Virginia Beach and Norfolk are all within reach, and the park system is extraordinary: the Noland Trail alone is worth the move. Add a genuine, patriotic community and those waterfront sunsets, and it is easy to see why people stay.
